Barely has the spring sun set on Sunday’s fighting draw at Ibrox than it now shines its light on Celtic’s next opposition as the Hoops get set to play Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow night (Wednesday). A win would propel Martin O’Neill’s Celts above Rangers and into second place in the fight for the title, and the focus of the manager and his players is on getting those necessary three points. The Irishman said: “This is a big game for us tomorrow evening, a big match for us and we have to try and win the game if we can. “The players know that themselves. We’ve left ourselves in this position, through one thing or another, and we’ve got to try and see it through. ‘The total focus is on the game.’ “We certainly can’t spend 45 minutes on the back foot and not really competing properly. “And that’s against any side, never mind Rangers, so from our viewpoint, I think we’ve got to try and get a grip of the game earlier than we are doing.” As to whether a win would be a psychological boost in both the league fight and Sunday’s return to Ibrox to meet Rangers in the Scottish Cup, the manager said: “Psychologically, I don’t know. “I can only treat the game just on its merit and go for it and try and win. “It won’t be easy for us in Aberdeen, I’ve never had an easy game at Pittodrie in all my time managing, so I would expect exactly the same, and the players are expecting that as well. “The game itself presents the challenge. I think that Aberdeen will get themselves up for the game, quite rightly so and they’ve got points to prove themselves. “Regardless of what position the two clubs find themselves in, it would be a difficult match.” Watch the full video to hear the manager on: Injuries The derby Viljami Sinisalo Reo Hatate More on the game Training Gallery: Aberdeen v Celtic Keep right up with the action on our Official Match Centre FixturesAberdeen Vs.
