We may only be four games into the SWPL season. but the goals have continued to flow for Celtic FC Women at the beginning of the campaign. Scoring 19 goals in their opening fixtures, the Ghirls have made a strong start to competitive action so far. And the goals have continued to be spread throughout the side, with 10 different scorers. Last weekend’s victory against Aberdeen secured another important three points, but it was also a positive afternoon for summer signing Mathilde Carstens who grabbed her first goal in green and white. Speaking to the press ahead of the Celts’ return to action this evening (Friday) against Hibernian, the Danish midfielder opened up on what that moment was like after scoring her first Celtic goal. She said: “It felt amazing to get my first goal for Celtic last weekend against Aberdeen. “It’s something that I have been thinking a lot about the last few weeks. So, it was just a huge relief to get the first one. ‘It was nice to get the first one, so hopefully, there will be more.’ “I feel like after that I could drop my shoulders finally.”It is set to be another busy week for the Hoops with another important SWPL fixture, before jetting off to participate in Round One of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Ahead of those games, Carstens insisted that the work on the training ground has been extremely productive as she reflected on working alongside Head Coach Elena Sadiku, after they were reunited in the summer following their spell at the 22-year-old’s previous club, Fortuna Hjorring. However, the attacking midfielder was insistent that the squad’s focus is on their clash against Hibernian, with three points up for grabs. “I think this week in training has been really good,” she said. “It’s been some of the best sessions we have had in a long time. “So, it’s been really good preparation across the board leading into this game against Hibs. ‘I’ve enjoyed working under Elena a lot, of course. She is a big reason why I chose to come here.’ “So, I’m just enjoying working with her, and being back. It’s really nice. “We are all really excited to get going in the Champions League. But obviously the focus right now is on Friday against Hibs, and then we will take the next game after that.”  FixturesCeltic Women Vs. Hibernian Women – Fri, Aug 30th 2024, 19:35
