Featuring in all of the Hoops’ matches so far to date, it has been a strong start to the season for Celtic FC Women midfielder, Momo Nakao. Joining in January, the 23-year-old has shown her qualities in the centre of the pitch from the off and has continued to do so this campaign. The beginning of the 2025/26 season has also seen the Japanese midfielder get off the mark in front of goal, with two strikes so far in the league. Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of the Ghirls’ trip to Montrose on Sunday, Momo caught up on how her season has been so far, and what it has been like with some new faces around the squad. She said: “I’m really enjoying playing regularly. I play with good players. I just want to keep building and improving myself. “It was an amazing feeling to score my first goals for the club! It’s always an enjoyable achievement. “I just want to keep adding that to my game and contributing to the team by scoring more goals. “I think the new faces have settled in really well. They each bring their own qualities to make a difference. ‘They give us a new energy and that has been great!’ “We have lots of good players. Players who bring experience and confidence with us. We have played who bring creativity too. “The youngsters bring energy and more freshness. It makes a very good connection and it’s really good for the team.”Last time out for the Ghirls, it was a 1-1 draw against current SWPL champions Hibs. Whilst a point was probably a fair reflection, the Celts came away wanting more from the match. Reflecting on the performance, Momo insists there is still lots to learn at such an early stage in the season. Now, the midfielder is looking forward to getting back out there against Montrose on Sunday as the Hoops make the trip north. “It was a tough game for us,” she said. “We scored the first goal, and we conceded. I think we need to learn a little bit how to manage the game and to be calm. ““We had a lot of good moments in the game too. So, we want to do that and take it into the next game.” “Montrose have shown they can compete well against every team in the league. They have good players. ‘So, it’s going to be a tough game. But we just need to focus on ourselves and play our style.’ “Hopefully, we can keep scoring more goals and come away with the win.”FixturesMontrose Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Sep 28th 2025, 13:00
