With the month of August proving to be a strong one for Morgan Cross, the Celtic FC Women forward is determined to continue that form as the season goes on. On Friday afternoon, the winger was named SWPL Player of the Month, after scoring four goals in three games last month. Scoring in victories over Hearts, Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle, the 24-year-old has started the season on fire and was thrilled to be recognised for her performances. Speaking to Celtic TV after picking up the award, Cross expressed her delight at receiving the award. The attacker paid tribute to her team-mates for their part to play as she insisted she is just looking to continue enjoying her football. She said: “I’m obviously delighted to have won the award! There was a lot of tough competition because the other players in the category were really good this month as well. “So, to be recognised for my month, I’m really delighted with it! “I was a bit shocked when I found out. I didn’t expect it at all. It was a really nice way to find out, with the team around me. ‘They are a big part of that. So, I was just delighted.’ “I’m playing with a lot of confidence at the moment, and I’m really enjoying my football. So, I just want to keep that going and take that into the coming weeks. “Scoring goals is definitely something I want to keep continuing through the season. Playing off the wing is probably my favourite position here too. “Getting to take people on one-v-one and getting into the box. I’m really enjoying that and hopefully, it can continue.”Although the winger has started off in fine form, there was ultimately disappointment in the Ghirls’ fourth outing of the campaign, losing their first match of the season last Sunday. With a trip north now on the horizon for Elena Sadiku’s side as they travel to face Aberdeen, Cross insists the squad are desperate to bounce back to winning ways. “We are definitely disappointed with the result last weekend,” she said. “The message is though that it is early on in the season. We want to rectify that this weekend.” “As long as we can pick ourselves up and play like we know we can, we can definitely do some damage this season. ‘We’re expecting a hard test against Aberdeen. Every game in this league is a difficult one, and they have recruited really well.’ “We have a lot of respect for Aberdeen. So, we are just going to play our game and hopefully, we can take all three points.”FixturesAberdeen Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Sep 14th 2025, 16:10
