It is so far to so good for Celtic FC Women in their Round Two UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against Vorskla Poltava. Running out 1-0 winners against the Ukrainian champions, the Hoops took a one-goal advantage into the second leg on Thursday evening. The goal on a successful afternoon in Airdrie came from Murphy Agnew, who continued her bright start to the season with first European goal in green and white. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the forward was pleased to get on the scoresheet once more, particularly with that goal coming so early in the game. She said: “Yeah, it was absolutely what we wanted to do coming into this game. We wanted to win this first game and take the advantage going into the second leg. “I think we could have had a couple of goals today (Sunday). We maybe had a few chances which we could have finished off. ‘But it’s always good to put them away from a person perspective and get a goal.’ “Getting that quick start is exactly what we have talked about. Being able to start off really fast and really strong. “Being all over the opposition and being able to dominate too, pressing super high and scoring as early as possible. That’s exactly what we did.”It is a quick turnaround for the second leg, which will also be played at the Albert Bartlett Stadium, with the game being played on Thursday evening (7:15pm KO). Following on from an impressive team performance, Agnew insists that the Ghirls already can’t wait to get back out on the pitch with the chance to make more history. “I think this result and performance gives us a really good leg up going into the next game on Thursday,” she said. ‘We can’t wait for Thursday now. It will be another really good game, and good competition.’ “If we win, we will do something that we have never done before, so that is a lot of motivation.” BUY TICKETS ONLINE NOWFixtures FC Vorskla Poltava Vs.
