Nicolas Kuhn has long had a goal of playing in the UEFA Champions League, and on Wednesday night he achieved that ambition at Celtic Park. The fact that he was able to experience the world-famous Paradise atmosphere and also play his part in a stunning 5-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava only helped to enhance the experience. And having now played his first game in the competition, heâs looking forward to further Champions League matches, beginning with a trip to his homeland in 10 daysâ time for a match against Borussia Dortmund. âIt was unbelievable and the craziest thing I ever experienced,â he admitted. âItâs been a long journey and finally arriving in the Champions League in such a stadium was unreal. It was more than what I expected. After the anthem it was so loud. ‘Everyone said that itâs amazing and they are special nights, so I was really looking forward to it, and now I can say that I played in the game here, so Iâm really happy.’ âMy goal has always been to play in the Champions League. When I was on loan for a year from Bayern, I was in the second league in Germany, but the goal was always the Champions League and the national team, so itâs going all in a good way. âIt was just the first game but it was an important start for us. Now we just focus on the next game and every game thatâs coming, and weâre going to give 100 per cent.âNext up for Brendan Rodgersâ side is a League Cup quarter-final at home to Falkirk this Sunday. Itâs a clash between the top side in the Premiership and the Championship league leaders, and Kuhn is looking forward to the game and the chance to progress to the last four of the competition. âYou have to show respect for every opponent, but weâre going to focus on our strengths and if we keep doing what weâve been doing then weâll have a good chance. ‘Itâs been a really good start to the season and it was a really good game and we just want to keep going and take it into the next game.’ âBefore I came in, I had some good talks with the manager and it was all about getting into those positions to score and create chances, so thatâs what weâre doing and heâs helped me a lot. âI think there are still levels to go to and thereâs a lot more in me, so I hope I will achieve what Iâm looking for. âI knew that if I was fit then Iâd play well. The team, the coaches, the staff have all helped me a lot and Iâve said it a lot of times that when I came in, it was a little bit difficult for me, but now Iâm feeling good. âIf itâs going well, itâs really nice, and now that Iâm settled in, I just feel well so the performances are coming as well.â
