1895 Celtic’s first manager, Willie Maley, had already been with the club for eight years when the man who would eventually replace him was born. Jimmy McStay (below) first saw light of day on April 1, 1895 and joined up with older brother Willie at Celtic as a 25-year-old in 1920. The centre-half would score eight goals in 472 games before leaving for Hamilton Accies in 1934 but he returned to Celtic as manager on the retirement of Maley in 1939...
