It was the ideal way for Celtic FC Women to round off 2024 on Sunday afternoon as they ran out 5-0 winners over Spartans in the capital. Making the trip to Edinburgh for the final match before the winter break, the Ghirls put in an impressive performance to seal all three points on their travels. Rounding off what has been a busy opening few months to the season, Saoirse Noonan is a player who has made an impact during that time. And that was once again the case at Ainslie Park as a brace took her tally to 20 for the campaign in all competitions. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Irish forward admitted there was parts of the performance which could have been better but were made tough by the conditions on the day. However, she praised her team-mates for their display, with the most important thing being all three points. She said: “I think the conditions were quite tough out there. But I think it was really important that we put in a good performance today for ourselves. ‘We want to finish off the first half of the season on a high and take it into the next half when we come back after the break.’ “It was important we started the game well. We tried a few different things, and we knew there was going to be some mistakes with the wind and stuff.“We reacted from that, though, and got the goals. We played some brilliant football when it did work too. “It’s all about getting those three points at the end of the day, and that was the most important thing.” With the winter break now started, the Hoops have the chance to rest and recuperate before going again next year, on January 12 against Partick Thistle. Noonan insists that the squad’s focus will be on continuing to push for more trophy success, with all three trophies still up for grabs heading into the next part of the season. “It’s been a busy period, but it’s also been very enjoyable,” she said. “I think everyone is going to go away now and spend some family time and enjoy it. “When we come back, we will be focused on the league and the cups and be ready to go again.“FixturesSpartans Women Vs.
