Tara O’Hanlon: We fought really well to get back into the game

Sunday afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Glasgow City seen Tara O’Hanlon make her first start as a Celtic player. The full-back was one of four new additions in the winter window, arriving on loan from Manchester City. And after making her debut in the Hoops’ last league fixture against Montrose, O’Hanlon took to the starting line-up for the first time at Petershill. Speaking to Celtic TV, the left-back reflected on the Hoops’ performance, admitting that they were slightly disappointed only to come away with a point. However, there were still positives to take away from the performance as the Ghirls showcased character to fight back from a goal behind. She said: “Obviously, we are slightly frustrated not to get all three points. I think we fought really well to get back into the game, and to get the draw. “Ultimately, we want to come away with three points and we weren’t able to do that today. ‘So, there are positives to take, but there is still a lot to grow on and move forward with.’ “The response said everything about us as a group. We are resilient, and we are never going to be put down. “We knew coming out for the second half, we were going to need to fight very hard. “And I think the girls did a great job and thankfully Morgan was able to put that finish away.”Sunday’s performance was a positive one both going forward, and in defence from the Hoops. The backline restricted the league leaders to very little chances throughout, with O’Hanlon playing her part in that performance. After taking her place in the starting line-up for the first time, the defender admitted she was buzzing to get that ticked off as she praised her team-mates. “It helps when I’ve got players like Claire Walsh around me and to play alongside in defence,” she said. “They help massively and support me. Everyone here has been really good and helped me feel included and very welcome. ‘I was buzzing to make my first start. Finally settled in and got my first start.’ “Hopefully now, we can just continue to grow as a team. We are coming towards the split, so we have some big games. “We will keep growing with every game. Like Grant said, we are going to take it one game at a time. “We did what we needed to do there and got a point from the game. We didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either. So we’ll take it on to the next game.”FixturesGlasgow City Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Feb 8th 2026, 16:10
