It was 46 years ago this week, on November 5, 1975 that Celtic wore numbers of their backs for the first time in an official game. The occasion was the European Cup-Winners’ Cup second-round, second-leg when new UEFA regulations insisted that numbers be worn on the back of players’ shirts.
