Since Celtic Football Club was formed in 1887, charity has paved the Celtic Way as our supporters continually celebrate and participate in the charitable traditions of the Club. Today, this core founding principle is honoured and upheld by Celtic FC Foundation. To mirror the charitable vision of our Founding Father, Brother Walfrid, monies raised through Walfrid’s Wish are devoted to supporting the Foundation’s Paradise Pit Stop projects. This sees our doors here at Celtic Park open every Monday and Thursday evening, between 5pm-7pm and every Wednesday and Friday afternoon, from 12noon-2pm. Anyone who wishes to join us can pop in and enjoy good company, a free warm meal and a selection of hot and soft drinks in the comfort of our lounge. Paradise Pit Stop is about more than just food – it serves as a safe, inclusive environment where individuals and families from some of Glasgow’s most vulnerable communities can access a hot meal, feel valued and gain access to essential support services. Our aim is to provide relief from food poverty and also tackle the increasing issue of loneliness and isolation in our communities. Beyond providing a crisis intervention and striving to tackle the financial strain put on individuals and families, the project also connects participants with broader support networks and addresses many of the issues faced in our local communities, including mental health, housing and addiction. To date, Paradise Pit Stop has supported over 23,000 individuals and provided over 44,000 hot meals and drinks. Recently, Celtic FC men’s and women’s first team players Paolo Bernardo and Colette Cavanagh visited the project, to lend a helping hand.
