Celtic FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of Japanese midfielder Momo Nakao. The 22-year-old ball-playing technician, originally from Inzai City, Chiba, Japan, brings overseas experience and quality to Elena Sadiku’s side. As a youth player, Nakao progressed through JEF United Chiba Women’s academy, where she won the U18 National Championship and was promoted to the senior squad before moving to the United States to pursue a collegiate career. Nakao has also been a part of the Japanese youth national team setup, representing her country at the U16, U17, and U19 levels. She competed in the 2018 U17 World Cup in Uruguay, showcasing her ability on the international stage. In 2021, Nakao moved to the U.S. to join the University of Memphis, where she established herself as one of the top midfielders in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
