But while pleased with his impact, the Belgian midfielder insists there is more to come. Reflecting on his performances, he told Celtic TV: “I think I’m doing good. At the moment I’m pleased with my form and how things are going here, but I’m a football player, so I always want to do better. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m on a good path with some goals and assists, and that’s the most important thing, helping the team.” With his numbers edging closer to double figures in both goals and assists, Engels remains determined to push his own standards even higher as the season progresses. “You always think about it before the season and what you want to achieve, but you always need to re-raise the bar.” The Belgian midfielder said. “If it’s all going well, then you need to be going better. I’m on the right path from what I wanted at the beginning of the season, but there’s still half a season to go. I just want to do my best, and we’ll see where we end up in the end.” One of his most recent contributions came in the build-up to Jota’s goal against Motherwell, with Engels threading a precise through ball to Daizen Maeda in the lead up to the Portuguese winger’s emotional return to the scoresheet. Having not been at the club during Jota’s first spell, the midfielder has been impressed by his early impact. “First of all, he’s a lovely guy. From the first day that I met him, he’s great to speak to, and he’s just nice to have around in the dressing room. ” He said. “I wasn’t here when he was first at the club, but I heard a lot of amazing things about what he did here. “You can see in training that he has a lot of quality, and then he comes on in the game and scores directly. The fans love him, and I hope to see a lot more from him. It’s up to us as a team to help him improve even more than he already is, and I think he’ll do really well for us.” With the focus now shifting to tonight’s clash with Dundee at Celtic Park, Engels knows the importance of maintaining momentum and ensuring the Hoops extend their lead at the top of the table. “We are fully focused on the next game.” Engels said. “Everybody always says the next game is the most important one. Everybody is really focused on bringing the gap to 13 points. That’s something we have to do—to keep that gap and hold it until the end of the season.” You can watch the interview in FULL now on Celtic TV. 🍀Subscribe today to the official YouTube of the world’s first Quadruple Treble winners, Celtic Football Club:
